Coverage Pathways

The Two Main Ways to Receive Medicare

Option 1

Original Medicare + Supplements

Original Medicare includes Part A (Hospital) and Part B (Medical). Most people add a standalone Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) and a Medigap policy to limit out-of-pocket medical costs.

Option 2

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Medicare Advantage is an all-in-one bundled alternative provided by approved private insurance companies. It includes Parts A and B, usually Part D drug coverage, and often extra vision or dental benefits.

The Building Blocks

Breaking Down Parts A, B, C, & D

Every Medicare plan consists of these core components. Here is what each part specifically handles.

Part A — Hospital Care

Part B — Medical Services

Part C — Medicare Advantage

Part D — Prescription Drugs

Helps cover inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and limited home healthcare services.

Helps cover outpatient medical care, doctor visits, preventive services, lab tests, and durable medical equipment.

Combines Part A and Part B coverage into a single plan, frequently adding prescription drugs and extra wellness perks.

Helps cover prescription medication costs, offered as a standalone plan for Original Medicare or bundled into Part C.
